Ramón Piñeiro joins Formula Two
Spanish driver aims to build on impressive pre-season test performance

19-year-old Spaniard Ramón Piñeiro has become the 22nd driver to confirm his place in the 2011 FIA Formula Two Championship, commencing at Silverstone this weekend.

Ramón has already raced in F2, having competed in the final round of the 2010 season at his home circuit of Valencia. Despite his age and comparative lack of experience, Piñeiro excelled from the outset by running inside the top ten in free practice, and he secured an impressive points finish in the second race. This strong form has continued throughout pre-season testing at Silverstone and Snetterton, where he consistently finished amongst the top four fastest drivers.

Ramón graduated to Formula Two following a superb season in the UK Formula Palmer Audi championship that saw him finish third overall. The Spaniard remained in contention for the title heading into the very final round, where he picked up his second and third race wins of the season to consolidate his top three position in the standings.

Looking forward to this weekend's season opener at Silverstone, Ramón said: "I was P2 in testing here, so I expect a great weekend. The competitors will be hard to beat but I will give my all and achieve a strong result. F2 is great for showing potential as all the cars are equal and run by one team.

"I will fight for the championship. Testing has been good and I have expectations for the top. I look forward to being in the fight and taking podiums and wins."

Formula Two Series Director Jonathan Palmer said: "I'm absolutely thrilled that Ramón will be racing in F2 this year. He came close to winning a very competitive FPA championship last year, and his debut at Valencia in Formula Two was outstanding. Given the promise he has shown so far, and his impressive pace in pre-season testing, I have no doubt Ramón will be a frontrunner this year."

Jo tambe ho sabia pero s'ha de dir que no es segur que corri tot l'any esta lluitan per conseguir esponsor que l'ajudin a pagar tota la temporada.

Muy buenas a todos! Si alguien ve la carrera si la puede grabar y subirla a algun sitio tipo youtube me haría un gran favor. Esque me gustaría ver la carrera de Ramón, pero estaré tanto sábado como domingo en Lliçà corriendo una carrera, y no podré verla. Además, ya dejo todo preparado para grabar la F1 (que me falla a veces, o sea que quizás me quede sin F1 tmb ).

Dicho esto,...Ramon! Push push now!
